Soft Chamois Colour Review
Undertone: Greige
This off-white colour may appear more beige or more gray in colour depending on the lighting and what other decorative elements you pair with it in your interior decorating project. Looking at the colour comparisons below will help give you a better idea of where Soft Chamois fits.
Colour Comparisons
Classic Gray OC-23 & Ballet White OC-9
Classic Gray is another fantastic neutral that I have used in a previous client’s project. This is an extremely popular soft gray that looks amazing in so many spaces. Because of its’ popularity, I have already reviewed this colour. You can find the review here. Another great option to consider if you’re thinking of a beautiful neutral for your next painting project.
Best Whites To Pair With Soft Chamois
Snowfall White OC-118 by Benjamin Moore
Simply White OC-117 by Benjamin Moore
Chantilly Lace OC-65 by Benjamin Moore
I tend to have around 10 white paint colours that are my best whites for trim and ceilings. You don’t need all of the thousands of whites available to you to get the right one and you definitely don’t need to mix two different whites or use only a certain percentage of paint colour to get the right one for you.
White trim and ceiling paint colour comparison
I can assure you that the best colour for your project already exists, you just need to know 5 Steps on how to choose the right paint colour the first time.
Soft Chamois pairs beautifully with each of these whites, offering three subtly different looks.
Fabulous Colour Combinations
I went for a very natural palette today that reminds me of the beach and different shades of natural stones. But of course, you can pair Soft Chamois with bolder and contrasting colours as well.

| 7 September 2021Hi Claire,
I am thinking of selling my house. My realtor advises everyone who is selling to paint the interior of the house Edgecomb Gray. Do you agree with that? Is that the color you would use if you wanted a neutral color to sell a house?
Claire Jefford
| 9 September 2021Hi Allie. While Edgecomb Gray is a beautiful colour, you need to make sure it compliments the fixed elements within your home. I see a lot of homes up for sale where they’ve been painted a shade of gray, but the gray doesn’t work with the tiles, counters, etc. At least Edgecomb Gray is not a blue gray like most that I have seen that are unrelated to everything else in the house.

| 5 December 2021Hi Billy! In my Perfect Colour Palette for Soft Chamois I have a contrasting colour that I recommend called Granite, AF 660 by Benjamin Moore. Of course, you need to make sure whatever you choose works with your other interior design and décor elements. | 11 October 2022Hi there, this is a great study of soft chamois. As a designer myself, I don’t see it used much and I’m considering it in my own space which gets morning east light and afternoon west light. No other color I’ve tried stays as neutral as the light shifts throughout the day. Have you seen it paired with SW Alabaster on trim and doors? Thanks for the in depth review of this pretty color!
Claire Jefford
| 4 November 2022Glad you enjoyed the review Kate! We haven’t paired it with Alabaster, but my suggestion is to view it in the space with both colours together to see if it’s a good choice.

Claire Jefford
| 24 July 2023Every neutral has an undertone. For beiges the most popular are either green, yellow, and pink. For grays they will either have an undertone that is green, blue or purple/violet.

| 3 March 2024What do you think of the combination of Soft Chamois with First light, the latter as an accent wall in the room painted Soft Chamois? Thank you!
Claire Jefford
| 12 April 2024The colours look nice together, very soft and pretty. Just be sure to repeat the pink tones of First Light in accents such as an area rug, florals, or artwork.

| 14 August 2024Hi Claire, I’ve watched your YouTube video and read your blog post about the color soft chamois. I’m planning on painting our master bedroom this color including trim and walls. I’m also thinking of painting the ceiling this color since it’s such a light color but wanted to get your thoughts. Thanks!
Claire Jefford
| 27 August 2024Hi Jamie. Yes, you could absolutely use the same colour for the ceiling and trim, especially if you are just doing your main bedroom. It can get a bit tricky if you do this in the main living spaces, depending on where that colour and any different white trim may connect with one another. But for a bedroom, you should be good!
