TRUE STORY:
I lost the job, she had no faith in me!
If you are not clear on the services you offer, it’s nearly impossible for you to sell your services – at least to the good clients who will trust you and not ‘shop’ you. This is what happened with one of my very first clients, Maureen.
I met with Maureen for a paid initial consultation. As she walked me through her home, I provided some helpful ideas to improve her current decor.
She seemed to like my suggestions and said she was interested in getting help beyond the consultation.
The Problem…
I had no defined design services beyond the consultation. And, I had no idea what to charge!
Even though Maureen initially agreed to continue working with me, before our next meeting, she emailed to say she was unsure of moving forward and said not to bother with any follow-up, telling me she would ‘muddle through it on her own.’
